Elder Twauna E. Hennessee, First Lady & Associate Minister

Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church, Portland, Oregon

& Account Executive, UPS

Elder Twauna E. Hennessee is a native of Portland, Oregon.  She is a member of the Bradley and Allen families and both have deep roots in this city.

She was educated in the public schools in Portland graduating from Jefferson High School.  She is completing her B.A. degree from Thomas A. Edison State College.  She plans to go on to be a life-long learner.

Elder Hennessee has a great deal of experience in the business and public sector serving as an Executive Assistant, Office Manager, Retail Assistant, Retail Floor Manager, etc. in a variety of businesses and now is an Account Executive for UPS in the Portland /Vancouver area.  She has worked very hard to help many youth & young adults recover from life difficulties; which has been one of the most rewarding things she has done in her life.  

She grew up in Vancouver Avenue First Baptist Church and left when she was a teen, continued her faith journey as a member of other Churches. She returned to Vancouver Avenue in 2009.  She was already a licensed minister when she re-joined the church.  She was ordained by an ordination panel at Vancouver Avenue led by Pastor J.W. Matt Hennessee.  She has served as one of the youth ministers, led “Sisters in the Spirit”, is the Co-Chair of the Drum Major Scholarship Fund.  In addition to these key roles at her Church, in 2014 she started a women’s encounter affectionately known as “Chat & Chew” which has been very successful in bringing church women from across denominations together to fellowship together and learn from one another.

Elder Hennessee plans to live a life of helping people as she has been helped in her own life and to work in church and in business to help people see their dreams come true.

She is married to Rev. Dr. J.W. Matt Hennessee and the two of them have a blended family of four children and eight grandchildren.  Her grandchildren range in age from eight months to sixteen years old.  When she is not busy at church or work you can find her looking for one of her dream cars—a Jaguar XF, a huge truck with big tires, another Hummer H3, Range Rover Evoque, or a Mercedes 550!
